Announcements Week of 2/4/2012

General, Symphonic Winds/Concert Band

1.  Please turn in Booster Membership Drive forms and money in to Mr. Smith ASAP.  The boosters need your support in this fundraiser!

2.  Band Dance sign up/money is due.  Please bring money to Mr. Smith in an envelop with your name clearly marked.

3.  Make sure your concert uniform fits and is in good shape.  If you have any issues, contact Mrs. Busby ASAP.  Do not wait until the last minute before contest.

4. Parents: The Band Boosters need your help!  We are looking for someone to co-chair our concession stand at home football games for 2013.  This is our main fundraiser for the band program!  If we don’t have anyone to chair this, we will lose an enormous part of our budget.  Please contact Chris or Scott Smith if you are interested.  There will be help and you won’t have to do the work alone.

5.  Please bring all scores and original parts back to Mr. Smith on Monday from solo/ensemble contest.

7.  Good luck to the PHS Percussion Ensemble and the Edison 8th Grade Band as they perform at the OMEA State Convention this week!

8.  Good luck to Claire Kendig as she will be performing with the All State Band at the OMEA State Convention this week!

Solo and Ensemble Results

General, Symphonic Winds/Concert Band
On Saturday, members of the Perry High School Band program competed at the Ohio Music Education Association’s Solo and Ensemble Contest at Massillon High School.  Students earned a total of 66 Superior Ratings and 23 Excellent ratings.  Congratulations to the following students who earned Superior or Excellent ratings at their events:

Solo & Ensemble Schedule

General, Symphonic Winds/Concert Band

1.  Click here to download the Solo and Ensemble Schedule for this Saturday at Massillon High School

2.  If there is a scheduling conflict, please see Mr. Smith ASAP.  You can switch times with someone in your same room, but you MUST NOT SWITCH ROOMS.

3.  Please be sure you have your scores numbered, and your scale requirements(soloists only) memorized.  You must provide the judge with a numbered score or your rating will be lowered.

4.  We have so many events this year that most events are double, triple, and quadruple booked.  We can’t be in 4 places at once, so we may not be in to hear your solo/ensemble. This means you must be prepared and ready to go.  Show up early, warm up in the homeroom, and be outside of your contest room at least 5 minutes early.  Also, do not take it personally if one of us is not at your event.  We will try to get to everything we can, but it will be impossible for us to hear all of you.

5.  Remember to play well, represent the Perry Bands well both in performance and behavior, thank your judges for hearing you, and enjoy the day!  Encourage your parents to come listen!

Announcements Week of 1/28/2012

General, Symphonic Winds/Concert Band

1.  Solo and Ensemble Contest is this weekend!  We still do not have the schedule, but we will get it to you as soon as we receive it.

2.  The Ohio University Woodwind Quintet will be giving a concert and masterclasses this Wednesday.  All woodwind and horn students will participate.  Performance will be at 1:30PM, followed by masterclasses until 3PM.  Winds Brass will have sectionals and chamber day as usual.

3.  A reminder that the Disney Trip meeting is February 13th, at 7PM, in the HS cafeteria.

Announcements Week of 1/20/2013

General, Symphonic Winds/Concert Band

1.  Band Dance signup sheet is in the band room.  Make sure to put your name, and the name of your guest if you plan to attend.  All payments must be in an envelope with your name clearly marked on it.  No money will be taken at the door.

2.  Congrats to all students involved in honor bands this past weekend at Ohio State and Bowling Green State University!  We are very proud of all of you!

3.  Solo and Ensemble is just around the corner!  Now is the time to make sure scores are numbered, etc.  If you need after school help with Mr. Smith, don’t hesitate to ask!

4.  Audition information for the 2013-2014 Perry Bands will be coming out soon.  It would be a good idea to keep your contest solos polished so you can use those!  Audition format will be the same this year as last year.

5.  There will be a required Disney Trip meeting on February 13th, at 7PM in the PHS Cafeteria.  All students planning on marching with us in sunny Orlando must attend this meeting with at least one parent.  As always, we will keep the meeting short and to the point!  Parents interested in chaperoning should also email Mr. Smith for details.

Disney Meeting: February 13th

General, Junior High/Middle School, Marching Band

The Disney Trip meeting is scheduled for February 13th, at 7PM, in the HS Cafeteria.  This meeting is required for all 2013 Marching Band members who will be participating in our trip to Florida.  You must bring 1 parent/guardian with you.

We will be discussing payments, trip rules/procedures, schedule, etc.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.  We should be done no later than 7:30PM!

Announcements Week of 1/7/2013

General, Symphonic Winds/Concert Band

1.  Winds Ensemble exams will take place this Wednesday!  If your group needs after school help, please sign up on the sheets on the bulletin board.

2.  Thanks to all who signed up for Pep Band!  Next game is this Friday!  Only 2 left after this week, so be sure to sign up.

3.  On January 30 or 31, the Ohio University Faculty Woodwind Quintet will perform for Symphonic Winds/Concert Band.  Following this brief performance, all flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, and horn players will attend master classes with members of this group (all professors at Ohio University).  This is a great opportunity for our high school students, so please plan to attend!
