2020 Field Commander Audition Information

Audition information for 2020 Field Commanders is now available on the Marching Band page.  Auditions will take place on March 20th after school.  Please print and read the audition letter/instructions, and download the score.  If you have any issues printing the material, please see Mr. Smith ASAP.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you work with a current/former Field Commander to prepare for your audition.

Please note that if you are selected as a Field Commander, you must attend the Phantom Regiment Drum Major Camp held at The University of Akron in June.  (dates TBA)

All CURRENT Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are eligible for Field Commander tryouts.

2020 Leadership Team Letter

If you are interested in applying for the 2020 Leadership Team, please submit a 1 page essay detailing why you think you should be chosen for the Leadership Team.  A well written application essay should include:  what band means to you, what makes for a good leader, and why you think you are a good leader.

In addition to your letter, your attendance, marching/playing ability, and attitude will be taken into consideration.  If you plan to audition for Field Commander, you must submit a leadership essay.  Please note in your essay that you want to be considered for Field Commander.

Letters are due no later than Friday, February 28th.

Tentative Marching Band Schedule is now online

Visit our schedule of events tab to view the full 2020 PHSMB Schedule.  Please keep in mind that a couple of dates might change:

•  A determination on our October 3rd competition date will be made in the coming weeks.  We are weighing travel distance vs going out later in October.

•  We don’t have dates for the Stark County Fair yet.  The date on the calendar is our best assumption based on prior years.

•  The summer rehearsal schedule is now set in stone and you can plan vacations around it.  These dates will not change.

•  Please note that Band Senior night was changed to the Lake game on October 23rd due to Homecoming.

Solo & Ensemble Schedule

Please click here to view the Solo & Ensemble Schedule

Solo and Ensemble will be held at Massillon High School.  Our home room is A213.  Please warm up in the homeroom  30 minutes before your event.  You should arrive at your event room 10 minutes early to be on the safe side.  If the judge lets you go early, you may go early.  Please encourage your family and friends to watch you perform!  The directors will try to make it to as many events as we can, but due to the packed schedule, we WILL miss some performances due to double booking.  Don’t take it personally.

All performers should dress nicely for this event.  Gentlemen, wear a shirt and tie.  No jeans.  Dress for success!  Remember that you represent the Perry community!.

We are looking for parent volunteers to monitor the homeroom for the day.  Please contact Mr. Smith if you are interested.  We need at least 1 parent to sit in the room throughout the day.

Solo & Ensemble

A reminder that solo and ensemble forms/money are due on December 13th.  Forms can be found on the Symphonic Winds or Concert Band pages of this website.  Song codes can be found by visiting www.omea-ohio.org  Checks (preferred) should be made to Perry Band Boosters.

Simply click on Menu, then Adjudicated Events, then Music List, then “Magnifying Glass/Search” and follow the remaining prompts.  If you have any issues, see Mr. Smith.
