Awards Delivery Items

We will be leaving my house at approximately 9:45AM.  Please check the route order that was posted a few days ago.

  1.  You do not need to “dress up” for this unless you want to.  We will be wearing casual attire (or possibly rain gear!)
  2. Once we leave your house, it would be helpful if you text/call or email the next person on the list.  If you don’t have that person’s info, don’t worry about it.  It just helps give everyone a heads up as to where we are.
  3. Your awards bag should contain:  Your Panther Head, DVD of slideshow, gift card, and any extra award you may have received.  We will also have your senior banner.  If you are missing any of these items, please email me and I will make sure you get them.
  4. If you aren’t home, we will leave your bag in a secure dry location (inside the screen door, mailbox, etc.)
  5. If it’s pouring down rain when we arrive, if you have a garage…that would be an awesome place to meet.
  6. If you are an underclassmen and you received an extra award, we will deliver those when we finish with the seniors.
  7. See you soon!

Unofficial “State” Plaques

While we stress to you that ratings are not important, we realize that having your year represented on our wall of OMEA State Plaques is important.  Unfortunately, that was not an option so we did the next best thing.  Here are some pictures of the plaques we had created for this year’s Concert Band and Symphonic Winds:

Band Awards Viewing Tips

The Band Awards Ceremony will begin tomorrow evening (Wednesday) at 6PM.  The event can be viewed on the Perry High School Bands Facebook page and/or www.perryband.com (we will post the link/video as an announcement on the main page).  If you do not have Facebook, you should still be able to view it on our Facebook feed or perryband.com.  A few tips to enhance your viewing experience:

  1.  If you do not hear audio, look in the lower right hand corner of the video and make sure the sound icon is not “x’d”.  If it is, click it and adjust your volume.
  2. If you still do not hear audio, make sure your device volume is on.
  3. If you STILL do not hear audio…be patient…it means I forgot to turn on a setting, among the many settings, that I have to turn on to make this work.  Though I’ve been practicing every morning, there is a high degree of possibility that I will screw something up at some point.
  4. The Zoom to Facebook Live connection has been spotty at times over the past 2 weeks.  This is not something I have an ounce of control over.  If Facebook/Zoom has technical difficulties tomorrow evening, we will record this event in it’s entirety and post the video.
  5. There WILL be awkward pauses.  I’m running Zoom, Powerpoint, Chrome, Quick Time player, and Word to make this presentation flow nicely…..as much as I’ve tried, I still have to navigate between those programs and it takes a few seconds to do that.  This will at least provide “authenticity” to my normal awkward public speaking.
  6. If the video slideshow becomes muted (unlikely but possible due to copyright issues) we will provide a link to view through Google Drive.
  7. If we forget a name, etc please know that it’s not intentional.  Typically, we verify everything before our normal banquet….that wasn’t an option this year so I’m going off of rosters, gradebooks, and RSVP forms.
  8. Don’t forget to pick up your cupcake order!!

Uniform/Equipment Reminder

Just a reminder that our Uniform/Equipment return is this Friday, from 3-6PM in front of PHS.  This is not an optional event if you have school owned uniforms or equipment.  A reminder that you will need to stay in your cars.  If you have a large instrument, you may be asked to help put it away if possible.

The following items need to be addressed:

1.  All seniors and non-returning members with school owned instruments/equipment.

2.  All Concert Band members with concert uniforms.  Returning members need to turn in uniforms!

3.  Any person who may have a piece of a uniform or equipment that they forgot to turn in

Thanks and we will see you on Friday!
